JACKSON, Tenn. — Lane College introduced on Friday that choose in-person Homecoming events will likely be cancelled due to COVID-19 considerations.
The school says cancelled in-person events embrace the Homecoming Gospel Concert, prayer breakfast, parade, and tailgate extravaganza.
“The parade and tailgate sometimes appeal to 1000’s of alumni and guests,” mentioned Alumni Affairs Director Braylin Laster. “It is our want to be prudent with selections concerning the well being and security of our alumni, associates, neighborhood, and our campus dwelling.”
Lane says that the upcoming homecoming sport in opposition to Texas College continues to be on for Oct. 2.
The school says the choice to cancel and transfer events right into a digital format comes as COVID-19 deaths and circumstances rise in Tennessee.
“The management of the College understands the joy a Lane College homecoming brings to alumni, associates, and the West Tennessee neighborhood,” Laster mentioned. “We are taking actions to protect the smaller on campus events that alumni get pleasure from that may be managed with campus protocols. We are working diligently to ensure that the security of our college students and alumni are a precedence.”
